CROWNE PLAZA, YAS ISLAND

MAKE were engaged by the Kann Finch Group as hospitality design consultants for the Crowne Plaza Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. MAKE undertook the design of all the public spaces developing an evocative design that layered Moorish influences with a fresh interiors scheme. Key elements included suspended brass seating ‘lanterns’, customised carpets, and detailed stone work and metal work.

AVIARY, SOHO, KINGS CROSS

MAKE redesigned Aviary, a cocktail bar located on the upper level of Soho Nightclub. Sweeping views across the city were revealed in the new design which created a playful space full of oversized furniture, plywood birds and a ceiling full of red birdcages.

SOHO NIGHTCLUB, SYDNEY

MAKE’s redesign of Soho Nightlcub breathed new life into the historic Picadilly hotel in Kings Cross. A folded 3 dimensional surface lines the club, creating an immersive space of light, colour and movement. The faceted steel tiles were custom made from perforated and hand folded sheet steel, and were assembled together on site to form a continuous crystalline surface that contrasts with the sleek bar and seating insertions.

THE EASTERN, BONDI JUNCTION

MAKE were asked to develop concepts for an extensive overhaul of the Eatsern Hotel in Bondi Junction. MAKE carefully assessed each level of the hotel and then proposed a series of design interventions throughout the space. The concept for Ruby was implemented immediately, the other designs forming the basis of a future masterplan.

RUBY, BONDI JUNCTION

MAKE’s revamp of Ruby Nightclub opened in October 2009. A new op-art inspired wall graphic wraps the club, transforming the existing space. The rear of the club was reconfigured, creating an intimate lounge space lined with banquette ceiling and glowing wall lamps.
