B4 is a recently completed project for Goodman; a space to house their South Sydney team, and a potent illustration of the possibilities of industrial spaces. MAKE inserted a series of simple plywood boxes into the space; housing meeting rooms and amenities. The volumes were designed in response to the scale of the existing space and serve as a strong background to the suspended timber structure that frames the workstations below. The breakout space sits between the boxes, and is furnished informally, with  a large recycled  timber table and customised orange stools.

MAKE recently took part in a submission for the City of Sydney’s Laneway Art program. Emerging from a series of ideas + directions, m(awning) was designed for Curtin Lane in collaboration with Sally Tulloch from Farmer Jo.
When closed, m(awning) resembles a relief sculpture, a enigmatic composition formed by layered plywood panels. However, as the sun rises,  m(awning) unfolds/unfurls . A series of panels lift and pivot revealing coloured awning stripes, and forming varied seating and gathering spaces. A tiny kitchen opens and unfolds, and a delicious smell wafts though the air. m(awning) will be about igniting the senses and the imagination, inserting a moment of inspiration in the early moments of the work day. Layering the m(awning) experience with an experimental approach to breakfast, Sally Tulloch envisages an intimate and playful eating experience; one that injects surprise and delight into the early moments of the working day.

MAKE recently worked with Centuria to develop new solutions for an existing industrial space in Lane Cove. Developing proposals to subdivide the space into a series of smaller tenancies,MAKE also redesigned the façade, both to accommodate separate entrances and to update the building image with maximum graphic impact.

Goodman commissioned MAKE to undertake a low budget makeover for Unit D1, an industrial/commercial space vacant for several years and in urgent need of some TLC. MAKE’s approach involved removing the existing ceiling grid to maximise height, grinding back existing concrete floors and inserting some simple plywood joinery. A graphic paint scheme in both the office and warehouse completed the fitout.

After completing the lovely branding and packaging for Farmer Jo, MAKE were asked to design a refill package that would work with the original bucket style tub. The result was a sweet series of paper sheets folded and sealed into recycled brown paper packets.MAKE also designed a series of jar stickers and swing tags, working with the original circular stamp concept.

Uncle Petes asked MAKE to design their Popup store in Westfield Bondi Junction. On a tight budget and compressed program, MAKE designed a circus themed installation in natural and painted ply. Built by Uptown, the stageset-like shopfront created a strong visual pimpact on a site lacking visibility.

MAKE were recently asked to design a new store for Title, alongside of their existing store on Crown street Surry Hills. The new store will be a showcase for fashion + books, allowing the existing space to focus on music + film. The design is based around a series of leaning ply panels lit by articulated work lamps. In the centre of the store is the book tower, a double height timber clad space featuring Taschen and other books.
